The Chocolate Fairy Poem

My best friend, Ken Braiterman, told me that my videos should have more close ups, and interesting video scenery in the background. I was riding around all day last Friday working on developing the Chocolate Fairy project, talking to people on the streets. I rode down to the Scout, Kansas City’s overlook onto the city. The hill is the huge hill that is the ancient riverbank of the Missouri River.

Before the Missouri River was channelized, it used to be one or two miles wide, and its course would change every year.  Any given year the river could have flowed between the ancient Westport Area in Kansas City all the way to the other ancient riverbank that marks the border between Kansas City North and North Kansas City. Yes, there is a difference between those two cities. I won a pacifier at an Alley Kat bike messenger race as a special award for whining for pointing out the difference between the two cities.

I wrote the poem on Tuesday and then got it memorized by Friday night for my gig at the opening of the Dining Room Project at the Urban Culture Project’s Paragraph Gallery.  Amy Kligman took these pictures of the Chocolate Fairy’s debut into the art community. One person even filled out his evaluation in chocolate.
